When two signals tell the same story
A proposed redundancy check before adding another feature to a research model.
The question
Does a second feature contribute information after the first is already known? The aim is to test an incremental claim, rather than showing two attractive standalone charts.
Study status: proposed, not run. This sample note exists to review the reading experience and research layout. It does not report an observed market result.
Proposed test
Begin with a fixed baseline containing one feature. Define one additional feature and a comparison on untouched observations. Inspect agreement across different periods as well as the overall result.
Study record
| Item | Current state |
|---|---|
| Baseline feature | To be selected |
| Additional feature | To be selected |
| Comparison rule | Fixed before evaluation |
| Incremental result | Not run |
What could mislead us
Low correlation between inputs would not by itself establish that either predicts the target. A change in a model score would still need an explanation and a repeatable evaluation.
Results
No results are available. The finished version would show the sample size, excluded observations, comparison with the baseline, uncertainty, and links to reproducible artifacts. Empty result fields are intentional.
Next step
Create the feature definitions and comparison specification. The finished note should include the baseline, the additional feature, and the unchanged evaluation sample side by side.
